Diary of a movie addict: Grey’s Anatomy

Hello there, people ask me questions like “how come you still watch grey’s anatomy?”. Aside from the fact that I would love to be a surgeon one day (can’t wait), and this helps with the visual part of realizing that fact, it’s also episodes like today that keeps me hooked. I have been waiting for them to do an episode about Jackson and April but the story they used touched me in ways that I didn’t expect.

The episode was about Jackson going to Montana to perform a surgery on girl who had a tumor in her throat and she couldn’t talk, and Katherine being who she is, sent April to go with him instead of Meredith. When they got there, they had to do a lot of convincing to get the parent of the donor patient to give approval. Later on Jackson goes to a bar and just sits there, April tries calling him to inform him that the donor organ had a mass and couldn’t be used. When she finally found him, he was drunk and she later learns that the owner of the bar where he had been was Jackson’s long-lost father. Please watch the rest of the episode to get the full story.

But what really became obvious to me today was how much impact one person has on our life. It doesn’t matter what role that person played or “didn’t play”. Decisions of one person can affect one thousand or generations and when me make our choices, we do not put into considerations others around us or those that are in some way attached to us.

And then there is also one thing, just because someone took a decision that has possible negative impact on us, does not mean that we get to live our lives with that as an excuse. Thankfully, we have been given the right to choose and make our own destinies therefore, we don’t have to be examples of ripple effects but instead we get to break those chains and creating new reactions. In so doing we discover who we truly are and the goodness of those around us and what we have been blessed with.

So if you are wondering what episode this is : Grey’s Anatomy season 13 episode 16 (please watch), and as always…thank you for reading.

  1. I’m a massive fan of Grey’s – I’ve been watching it for the past 10 years! One of my favourite shows for sure, I love the way they’ve built up each of the characters, you really feel connected to them. Great post!
